Supporting fragile communities for sustainable recovery and peace

Discover ALN - A Global south women-led consultancy firm transforming fragile societies through locally-driven and durable solutions

  • ALN is a consultancy and expert network specializing in the humanitarian-development-peace nexus. In the world’s most fragile and conflict-affected places, we champion radically local, women-driven solutions that defy outdated aid systems. Rooted in feminist and decolonial thinking, we place Global South expertise at the center—where it belongs. By weaving together humanitarian response, development, and peacebuilding, we collaborate with civil society, national institutions, and grassroots movements to build systems that last—and disrupt the ones that don’t.

  • At Adapt Localisation Nexus (ALN), local leadership is not merely a strategy; it is the foundation upon which we build our efforts. In fragile and conflict-affected contexts, we begin from the grassroots level, recognizing that the knowledge, power, and solutions needed already exist within the communities themselves. We engage with civil society, grassroots movements, and public institutions to forge responses that are informed by local realities, driven by political dynamics, and grounded in the lived experiences of those we serve.

Our approach seeks to dismantle exploitative aid practices by placing Global South women in leadership positions—individuals whose voices have historically been muted, despite their proximity to the frontlines. This represents a decolonial reimagining of recovery and peacebuilding processes, enriched by indigenous knowledge and local governance systems that have frequently been marginalized.

The solutions we develop are deeply anchored in community knowledge and contextual understanding, creating a robust framework for genuine, enduring change that respects local traditions while aspiring to global ideals.

  • We upend the power dynamics of the aid system by putting local actors in the driver’s seat of crisis response and lasting change. In deep solidarity with civil society, grassroots movements, and trusted allies, we co-create solutions grounded in lived realities, political context, and place-based knowledge. Our partnerships aren’t box-ticking exercises—they’re intentional, equal, and shaped by those closest to the impact. By returning power to where it belongs, we reject extractive models and forge a new kind of collaboration—one that shifts systems from the roots up.
